Sharing Your Work
Updated Aug 25, 2026
There are six things you can share with the community, and every one of them asks the same two questions before anything is published: who can see it, and how much of it they see. Nothing goes live until you have answered both, and both can be changed or withdrawn afterwards.
What you can share
Share | What it is | Where you start it |
|---|---|---|
Backtest | A completed backtest's full results and configuration. | The backtest, or My Shares |
Bot Report | A completed report's performance, as percentages unless you disclose dollars. | The report, or My Shares |
Bot | Any combination of a bot's open positions, its configuration, and its performance figures. See Shared Bots. | The bot, or My Shares |
Track Record | An audited performance page backed by a qualifying bot report. See Track Records. | My Shares |
Position History | Your last 500 positions, open and closed, on a page that stays current. | My Shares |
Account Pulse | Your whole-account today, week, month and year to date figures. | My Shares |
Who can see it
There are four audiences. You choose one when you first share, and you can add more later.
Whole community. Every member with community access sees it in the library and in feeds.
All mutual followers. Members you follow who follow you back. This is resolved live: if either of you unfollows, access goes with it.
A group. Members of one of your private groups.
An individual trader. One member, by handle. You can only grant this to someone you mutually follow, but the grant then stands until you revoke it or a block ends it, even if the follow later lapses.
A share can hold any combination of these at once. Where a share reaches someone through more than one audience, the library card names the widest one, because that is the audience that would still carry it if every narrower grant went away.
How much they see
Alongside the audience, each share carries disclosure settings. Which ones you are offered depends on what you are sharing.
Setting | Default | What turning it off does | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
Show my handle as the author | On | The share appears without attribution. | Everything |
Show dollar amounts | Off | Viewers see percentages only. | Bot reports, track records, position history, account pulse |
Show the trade list | Off | Viewers see the summary figures without the individual trades. | Track records |
Show contract quantities | Off | Viewers see the structure of each position without its size. | Position history |
Show bot names | On | Viewers see the positions without which bot placed them. | Account-wide position history |
Percentages are always the floor. Dollar amounts and contract quantities are the two settings worth pausing over, because together they tell a reader the size of your account.
Dollar amounts and contract quantities reveal the size of your account. Either one beside a percentage lets a reader work out roughly what you are trading with, and both together make it obvious. They are off by default for that reason. Turn them on deliberately, and remember you can turn them on for one group without turning them on for the whole community.
Each audience gets its own settings
Disclosure is set per audience, not per share. Once something is shared you can tune each audience separately from My Shares, so the whole community can see percentages while one of your groups sees dollars, and a trader you granted by name sees the trade list that nobody else does.
Individual traders are the one exception: they are granted one at a time but disclosed to as a set, so a change applies to all of them together. If you need one person to see something the others do not, revoke and re-add.
Shareable links
Backtests and bot reports also have a shareable link, which is separate from any community audience. Sharing a private backtest or report to the community turns that link on, so anyone who has the URL can open the page even if they are not a member.
The link has its own disclosure baseline, managed from My Shares alongside the audiences: your handle on both, and dollar amounts on reports.
A shareable link is not a community audience. Anyone holding the URL can open the page whether or not they are a Whispertrades member, and removing a community audience does not turn the link off. Manage the two separately in My Shares.
My Shares
My Shares is where all of this lives. From there you can:
Start a new share of a bot, a backtest, a report, a track record, your position history or your account pulse.
Add or remove audiences on anything already shared.
Change what each audience sees.
Unshare something entirely.
Starting a share from My Shares always opens that item's own share form, so you are never given a shortcut that skips the who-sees-this question.
Not everything is eligible. A bot must be one of your live bots rather than a paper bot. A backtest must be completed and not already shared. A report must be completed, not paper-only, and not already shared.
What is never shared
Some things are excluded from every share, at every setting, and there is no toggle to include them:
Your brokerage and account identity
Your broker connection
Order details and fees
Your own notes
Position sizing on a shared bot
Paper trading is also excluded from everything the community shows. Every figure on every shared page comes from live trading.
Unsharing
You can unshare anything at any time from My Shares, and it stops being readable straight away. Comments made on it stop being visible along with it.
Unsharing is not the same as narrowing. If you only want fewer people to see something, remove that audience rather than the whole share, and everything else stays as it is.
