Auto Reload

Updated Aug 15, 2026

What auto reload does

Auto reload charges your default saved card automatically whenever your balance falls below a level you choose. It is the hands-off way to fund your account: you set it once, and your balance tops itself up as your bots spend it.

Setting it up

You need a saved card first. Open Payment Methods from your balance page, save a card if you have not already, then fill in the Auto Reload section:

  • Reload when my balance falls below is the level that triggers a charge. Minimum $1.

  • Reload amount is how much we add each time. Minimum $10, maximum $2,000.

  • Monthly limit is optional and is a ceiling on how much auto reload can charge you in a calendar month. It has to be at least as large as your reload amount.

We email you a confirmation every time you switch auto reload on or change its settings, because the rule authorizes payments you will not be present for.

How often it can charge

We check your balance every 30 minutes, every day of the week, including outside market hours, because balances run down overnight and at weekends too.

There is always at least six hours between one auto reload charge and the next, so a fast-spending account tops up repeatedly rather than all at once. If you have set a monthly limit and auto reload reaches it, no further charges are made until the next calendar month.

If a charge fails

We email you each time a charge fails, so an expired or declined card does not go unnoticed.

After three failures in a row we pause the rule and email you to say it is paused. A paused rule makes no further attempts at all. To start it again, fix the problem first, usually by saving a replacement card, then open your auto reload settings and save them. Saving the form clears the pause and starts the count again.

Auto reload and low balance emails

If your auto reload rule is comfortably covering what you spend, we do not send you low balance warning emails, because there is nothing for you to act on.

If your reload amount cannot keep up with what your bots are actually spending, you will still get the warnings. That is deliberate: a rule that adds $10 at a time against $100 a day of spending will not keep you above zero, and you should hear about it.

Turning it off

Set the switch to off and save. Your threshold and amount are kept, so you can turn it back on later without setting it up again.
